LIBERTY & GIRARD - Power has been restored for nearly all customers in Liberty Township and Girard following an hours-long outage Thursday morning.
According to FirstEnergy's website, as of 9:30 a.m. Thursday, 2,452 customers in Liberty Township, as well as another 303 customers in Girard were without power.
As of 12:50 p.m. Thursday, power is back on for all but two customers with one in Liberty Township and the other in Girard.
A Trumbull County dispatcher told 21 News the cause is believed to be a blown transformer near Churchill Hubbard Road and Belmont Avenue.
Liberty Local Schools Superintendent Brian Knight tells 21 News this outage had affected the school district, but students still remained in school as crews worked to restore power.
