A vehicle slammed into a State Police cruiser deployed for a highway detail in Canton on Tuesday, injuring the driving but not the trooper, police said.

The trooper was stationed near the intersection of Interstates 93 and 95 in support of a highway work crew when the vehicle ran into the cruiser around 10 p.m., police said.

“The trooper-operator requested EMS for the driver for non-life-threatening injuries,” police said. “Thankfully, he himself was uninjured.”

State Police issued a reminder to drivers to pass work crews with care.

“Drivers should proceed with due caution by reducing their speed and changing lanes safely away from the stationary vehicle whenever possible,“ the agency said. ”Taking these important steps ensures drivers have adequate time to react to any potential hazar
