NEW ORLEANS — For the first time since her historic federal indictment was announced last Friday, Mayor LaToya Cantrell posted publicly on social media.

The mayor posted a photo presenting a key to the city to the football star and New Orleans native, Tyrann Mathieu, while in her office on Thursday.

Mathieu was being celebrated for his retirement from the NFL and dedication to community service.

Members of the media were not allowed onto the second floor, where the Mayor's Office and council offices are located, on Thursday afternoon. A security guard told us, 'They said no press at all up here.'

Councilmember Joe Giarrusso said the mayor isn't expected to attend the council's portion of the celebration.
