PORTLAND, Ore. — City officials have confirmed that the Trump administration's "border czar" Tom Homan paid a quiet visit to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's facility in Portland on Wednesday morning.

The city gave little details, except that Homan met with "sworn and nonsworn personnel" at the Macadam Avenue facility, then quickly left. The facility has been the site of many protests , the clashes between demonstrators and federal agents recently causing a nearby charter school to move due to officers' chemicals and munitions pervading the grounds, making the site unsafe.

The city and the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) did not play a role in organizing the visit, according to a city statement, reiterating Portland's sanctuary city status.
