WILLIAMSTON, Mich. (WILX) - Williamston has built a solid football tradition in the 25 years Steve Kersten has been the head coach.

The Hornets are coming off an uncustomary 3-and-7 season in 2024, but with their strength of schedule, that was still good enough to qualify for the MHSAA playoffs for the 9th consecutive season.

The Hornets’ season ended with a 49 to 19 drubbing in the districts to Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, and that loss should serve to motivate Williamston to get off to a strong start this season.

Williamston opens the season Thursday, Aug. 28th, against longtime rival Lansing Catholic.
