GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) — Twenty-nine feet of power. The latest addition to the Marine Unit of the Gulf Shores Police Department is now patrolling area waterways.

"We picked the boat up in Louisiana on Aug. 4, and it's been on the water in Gulf Shores since the 6th," Officer Ian Wallace said.

Wallace said it is a game-changer when it comes to answering a call for help.

"We have a lot more power capabilities with this boat, bigger fuel tank, faster speed, in essence, we can get help to people more quickly with this boat having more power," he said.

The Marine Unit for the Gulf Shores Police Department is brand new, only starting earlier this year. This boat is the cream of the crop.
