CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — Classes in the Wake County Public School System are set to start next week, but some teachers are already worried about another year of unbearable heat in the classrooms.
Jeff Fuss is a teacher at Enloe High School. He says his students are learning more about the heat than Social Studies.
"They're pleading with me to turn down the thermostat, and I have to go over to the thermostat and show them that I actually cannot control it," Fuss explains. "I'm touching the thermostat and putting it down to 73 degrees and watching it two seconds later kick back up to 86 degrees. it's a very defeating feeling for them."
The Wake County Public School System say one in three schools lost a day of learning due to HVAC issues over the past two years.
