LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville’s Metro Housing Authority is one step closer to being able to tear down Dosker Manor after getting final approval from the government.
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development has given LMHA final approval to tear down the public housing complex.
On Thursday, city officials said Dosker Manor residents’ relocation has gone from voluntary to mandatory, and they’re hoping to have the remaining residents into new homes by the end of this year.
LMHA’s executive director, Elizabeth Strojan, said 18 months ago, when the department made the decision to move residents out of Dosker Manor, there were 574 residents. Now, there are under 160 residents still living there.
