(WSPA) – High school football is back in the Carolinas! With the 2025 season just around the corner, the Southside Christian Sabres are previewed ahead of the August 22 kickoff.

Southside Christian Sabres:

Head Coach: Jonathan Gess, first season

2024 record: 2-8, 1-4 • Back-to-back 1A state champions in 2020, 2021

Key Returners:

Ben Bobo (DL/OL), Keldin Wrona (WR/DB), DJ Lee (CB/WR), Jack Criswell (QB)

Key Losses:

Preview:

New head coach Jonathan Gess takes over a program getting set for year number two in 3A after they were a 1A power. He'll build his offense around quarterback Jack Criswell and wide receivers Keldin Wrona and DJ Lee.

Ben Bobo leads on both the offensive and defensive line while Wrona and Lee are also vital in the secondary.
