Zach Riley has been tapped to lead the New Mexico branch of the Farm Service Agency, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Thursday.

"Honored to be chosen to serve such a deserving industry on behalf of this Trump Administration," Riley, who grew up in a ranching family in Eastern New Mexico and has held several jobs with agricultural lobbying groups, wrote in a Thursday LinkedIn post. The federal agency helps farmers with financial assistance programs, disaster relief and conservation initiatives.
