It’s been five years since the pandemic began in March of 2020 and I can still remember writing earlier that year that the “employment recession” that began in 2008, a period of time where job growth was measured in inches and not feet, seemed to be over. The pandemic put paid to that for a couple of years.

Job growth rebounded and by March this year Monroe County has surpassed its 2020 private industry (non-government) job level of 46,700, with more than 50,000 jobs in the private sector today.
