Earlier this week, a Delta Air Lines Boeing 757-200 flying from New York JFK Airport to San Francisco International had to make an unplanned stop in Ohio due to a medical emergency. There were 135 passengers and six crew members onboard, and, while this, at face value, is not unheard of, the emergency in question was more unusual, in that a passenger had gone into labor during the flight.
Given the urgent nature of the situation, the aircraft needed to get on the ground sooner rather than later, resulting in it diverting to John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH). Here, the plane and the impacted passenger were met by medical responders, before the 757 continued its transcontinental journey.
