A man in handcuffs escaped NYPD custody outside a Manhattan hospital Thursday night, and police were still looking for him Friday morning, department officials said.
According to police, the 34-year-old man had been arrested for larceny and was outside of NYU Langone Tisch Hospital on East 30th Street and First Avenue in Kips Bay around 7 p.m. when he got away from officers.
The man was handcuffed on one side when he fled, officials said. He was last spotted near East 30th Street and FDR Drive.
Officials on Friday did not identify him or say why he was at the hospital.
