PLAINVILLE, CT (WFSB) - Organizers of the Plainville Fire Company Hot Air Balloon Festival said the event would honor a fallen firefighter.

The festival was scheduled for Friday, Aug. 22, and Saturday, Aug. 23.

On Saturday at 6 a.m., they said a balloon launch would pay tribute to firefighter Ray Moreau.

Moreau died during a response to a house fire on Maria Road in Plainville on July 27.

“Please let’s all do our best to show our support in Ray’s memory, as Ray also played a vital part in all our past festivals year after year,” organizers said. “I’m sure he’ll be looking down and smiling.”

A balloon glow, fireworks, arts and crafts, rides, live entertainment, a drone show, and a car show were all planned over the course of the event.
