The Chena Pump State Recreation site is slated to reopen Monday after closing earlier this month for repairs and upgrades.

Alaska State Parks closed the site on Aug. 15 for paving and new pavilions, the state Department of Natural Resources announced earlier this month. The site will reopen for public use by Aug. 25, although there will still be contractor personnel working on site through Sept. 27. Public use will not be limited during this time, according to DNR.

During the closure, the contractor will be paving the upper parking lot and the day-use loop, and constructing two picnic pavilions for the public to enjoy.

The public is reminded to use an alternative boat launch location while the Chena Pump site is closed. Available options include:
