LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Mayor Linda Gorton will appoint a new Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council member on Friday.
The new councilmember will be sworn in during a 2 p.m. news conference. You can watch that live above.
The appointment follows the resignation of Sixth District Councilwoman Denise Gray, who stepped down July 31 after serving two terms.
Gray announced she was moving to Milwaukee to become Executive Director of Nia Imani Family, Inc., a nonprofit supporting women and families recovering from trauma.
During her time in office, Gray filed for, and was granted, an emergency protective order against then-councilmember Brenda Monarrez.
