NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A serious crash forced a portion of the interstate to shut down Friday afternoon.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., a car crashed while traveling west on I-24 and came to rest upside down in the middle of the road.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation, the Nashville Fire Department, and the Metro Nashville Police Department all responded to mile marker 60, just west of the Hickory Hollow Parkway exit ramp.
At least one person was trapped under the car until Nashville Fire crews performed a successful extraction.
TDOT opened up the left shoulder for vehicles to pass along the median wall around 1:15 p.m.
