MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) reported five additional cases of measles have been confirmed in Wisconsin. The latest cases were diagnosed in Oconto County, just northeast of Green Bay.

According to a news release, these newest cases are linked to the other nine cases confirmed in Oconto County on Aug. 2. The county now has 14 total cases.

"The ongoing investigation indicates that measles is spreading locally," DHS officials said. "All Wisconsinites [are] urged to check [their] vaccination status."

Representatives from DHS and Oconto Public Health are working with public health officials in surrounding areas to identify and directly notify people who have been exposed to the virus.
