Democratic Michigan politicians who endorse Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s independent run for governor risk losing their party’s support in future elections.
Active Democratic candidates who have publicly backed Duggan’s 2026 campaign have been recently cut off by their party from a key voter data system used for canvassing and campaigning.
The move was first reported by the Detroit News and confirmed to MLive by Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel Jr.
