KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Independence Police Department has announced more than a dozen arrests stemming from an operation focused on stopping retail thefts at businesses in the 39th Street corridor.
The agency said its Community Engagement Unit conducted the shoplifting sweep July 24-25.
In a Facebook post Friday, Independence police shared the following results from the sweep: • 15 shoplift arrests • 2 felony warrants cleared • 15 city warrants cleared • 2 vehicle pursuits • 1 foot pursuit resulting in a resisting arrest and false information charge • 1 firearm recovered • 1 drug arrest • 1 youth smoking violation
