PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A Charlotte County man faces felony littering charges after he told deputies he tossed a large load of waste material along a road rather than taking it to the landfill, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said.
The county’s Parks and Recreation Department called deputies Aug. 20 after staff discovered a large pile of trash on the ground beside the Tippecanoe II Environmental Park.
Deputies found a shipping label amid the waste building materials, empty cardboard boxes and miscellaneous items, indicating the items were shipped to local contractor.
When the contractor was contacted by deputies, he said he had hired Vincent K. Wade of Englewood to haul the trash to the local landfill.
