Speaking at an Aug. 20 press briefing a day after he declared a State of Emergency, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein emphasized the potential dangers of Hurricane Erin and outlined state resources prepared to aid in the response.

“I want to emphasize the importance of taking this storm seriously because it is a serious storm,” he said, advising people to take precautions, including being prepared to evacuate.
