UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WTAJ) — Thirty-six deputy sheriffs from twenty-two counties across Pennsylvania graduated from Penn State's Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Education and Training Program today.

The program, which spans nineteen weeks, provides comprehensive training in criminal law, defense tactics, and first aid, equipping the deputies with essential skills for their law enforcement careers.

Centre County Sheriff Bryan Sampsel expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, "It comes full circle. We hire them, they go through the process, we put them through an interview and a physical training test. Then they come up to the academy, and it's nice to see them graduate and get ready to start their career and hopefully have a long and safe career."
