ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) -- A former Altoona Curve player returns to Peoples Natural Gas Field to begin a Major League Rehab assignment Saturday as the Curve takes on the Reading Fightin Phils.
The Pittsburgh Pirates announced outfielder Oneil Cruz will begin the assignment after he was placed on a 7-day Concussion injured list on Aug. 13. Cruz, who batted .285 in the 97 games he played with Altoona during the 2019 and 2021 seasons, is currently batting .207 with 18 HR, 41 RBI and a career best 34 stolen bases in his 108 games with the Pirates this season so far. The 34 stolen bases lead the National League currently entering Saturday.
