GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Some things just take longer then they have to, such as going to the DMV.

Officials hope that will no longer be the case at Grand Island’s new DMV, located on South Locust Street, and are promising visitors shorter wait times.

Gov. Jim Pillen attended the DMV’s ribbon cutting ceremony where he said a few words about making services more efficient and being customer-focused.

The new building has two key features that are being used to help cut down on waiting times. One is to have the ability to set up online appointments for a specific time.

“We heard from our customers, over and over again, how much they appreciate that ability to know when they can be in and be out,” said Rhonda Lahm, the director of the Nebraska Department of Motorized Vehicles.
