TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Beginning shooters in Pima County have an opportunity to learn firearms skills in a free firearms course coming up.

The First Shots event, organized by the University of Arizona's WildGats and Pima County Parks and Recreation, will take place on Aug. 30 at the Southeast Regional Park Shooting Range, 11296 S. Harrison Road.

“We’re excited to partner with the U of A WildGats to bring First Shots to our community,” said Anissa Ramirez, community engagement coordinator at Pima County Parks and Recreation. “It’s all about giving shooters a safe, fun and supportive way to learn the sport.”

Certified coaches and experienced shooters will guide participants as they use provided handguns, rifles and other equipment at no cost, officials said. Sessions are scheduled for 8:3
