LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Organizers of the Harvest Homecoming Festival in New Albany have announced there won’t be any amusement rides this year. This is just one of several changes coming to the popular festival.
The announcement was posted on the Harvest Homecoming, Inc. Facebook page. The post goes on to say organizers are “excited to highlight what makes Harvest truly unique – local food, live entertainment, arts and crafts, and family-friendly activities that reflect the spirit of our community."
WAVE News reached out to Harvest Homecoming for additional comment, but did not hear back.
The change comes after 18-year-old Bryce Gerlach was shot and killed at the festival in 2024. Police say he was just an innocent bystander when bullets were fired near the ride area.
