LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police arrested a man after he allegedly took his 8-year-old son to a drug deal and had him take cocaine.

35-year-old Donnie Smith is accused of taking his 8-year-old son with him to a drug deal. Court documents say that after obtaining the drugs, Smith told his son to try them.

After taking the drugs, Smith’s son reportedly began to “act erratically,” and once home, he started to walk into walls and became non-verbal.

The son was then taken to the Norton Children’s Hospital, where he was treated for a drug overdose. Tests taken by the hospital came back positive for amphetamines, benzodiazepines and cocaine.

Smith is being charged with wanton endangerment, trafficking and trafficking in a controlled substance.
