COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) - What was once a family home is now a charred shell, after a fast-moving fire destroyed nearly everything.

When the flames broke out late last week, Quinten and Lillian Maguire were trapped upstairs.

“My sister came into my room and woke me up from sleeping, she said the house is smoking, we tried to open the door and we couldn’t see anything,” Quinton said.

“We called my dad first, he called 911, and then we called our mom who told us to go in the bathroom and cover our mouths with something.”

“And then our aunt called us who told us to bang on the window when the firefighters got here so they knew where we were,” Lillian said.
