COLUMBUS, OH – American Electric Power (AEP) is evaluating the possibility of relocating from its downtown Columbus building at 1 Riverside Plaza, which has stood since 1983.
A spokesperson for the company said the building requires significant renovations to provide a safe and engaging environment for employees. AEP has not disclosed how much the renovations would cost.
“Currently, we are evaluating our options, which include investing in our current facilities or finding a building in or around Columbus that better meets the needs of our workforce. No decisions have been made, and we are committed to working with the city as we move forward,” the spokesperson said in a release.
AEP is home to about 17,000 employees and operates the nation’s largest electricity transmission system.
