MUSKEGON – Last year, the Manistee girls volleyball team struggled to finish, which was the focus in summer scrimmages.
So there was much anticipation as the Mariners, who recorded nine match wins in 2024, kicked the season off Thursday with a triangular with Muskegon Orchard View and Mason County Central in Muskegon.
Early results were positive, with the Mariners dispatching their two opponents on opening night.
In fact, they managed to overcome a few early rotation mistakes in the first match against the Cardinals, pulling together to get the win, 25-20, 25-15.
That energy carried into the second match against the Spartans, and they secured a 25-15, 25-8 win.
