Local nonprofit Corazón del Pueblo has launched the Indigenous Leadership Institute of Arts and Culture, a summer pilot program designed to uplift Indigenous migrant farm-working youth through the power of art.
The initiative comes at a time when many are facing increased hardship due to immigration sweeps targeting the Indigenous migrant community. In response, Corazón del Pueblo has launched a fundraising campaign to raise $31,500, aiming to provide each of the program’s 23 student participants with a $1,000 scholarship and cover additional program costs.
“All of our participants are Indigenous migrant farmworkers or have parents who work in the fields, and they are facing financial, emotional, and physical challenges due to the current ICE attacks against their family members," the or
