Residents are invited to celebrate the success of local film Umbag, a Filipino independent film that has been making waves on the international festival circuit, during a Santa Maria showing on Monday, Aug. 25.

Following its award-winning premiere at the Golden State Film Festival and accolades at Indie Vegas, a special red carpet screening will be held at Regal Edwards Cinema Santa Maria, with showtimes at 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.

Written and directed by John Ad Castillo, Umbag follows the deeply personal journey of producer Rosemarie Dumadara Koerner and her daughter, artist Marie Flows, who stars in the film. Shot on location in the Philippines, the movie captures the country’s spirit through powerful storytelling and stunning visuals.
