THE New England Patriots have released FOURTEEN players with a brutal round of cuts.

The start of the NFL season is right around the corner, with the Patriots facing the Las Vegas Raiders on September 7.

The roster is a lot slimmer, though as FOURTEEN players have been cut.

The decision came after the Patriots' final preseason game against the Washington Commanders .

Mike Vrabel 's team stormed to a 48-18 victory at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts .

The Patriots have now cut the players in order to get the roster below the 53-man threshold.

Vrabel confirmed the exodus of players.
