FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - As many try to keep cool, a main thing on the mind of many right now is electric costs.

The owner of one Fresno restaurant in particular knows how devastating a combo of high utility rates and high heat can be.

"With these triple digits, who knows what's going to happen?" said Manny Perales, owner of Yosemite Falls Cafe.

Last July, Perales was hit with a PG&E bill for over $21,000 at his restaurant off Blackstone Avenue in Fresno.

"It took a year to get over that, you know, because you break down your bill because they allow you to spread it over so many months," Perales said.

To balance the blow, he invested $50,000 to replace his massive 25-ton air conditioning unit with multiple, smaller wall-mounted units.

"They're really efficient," he said.
