SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Universities in Springfield are seeing a decline in international students this academic year.
Missouri State University saw a 16% decrease in overall international student enrollment this academic school year.
Patrick Parnell, Director of International Services, said schools around the country are in similar situations.
“Every institution that hosts international students in the U.S. has faced challenges this cycle for sure. Of course, there was a lot of uncertainty around the halt in visa appointments, which actually occurred right in a prime moment in our recruitment and enrollment cycle,” Parnell said.
Drury University also saw a slight dip in international enrollment.
Kelli Roberts, Executive Director of Admissions, said this year was different, with soci
