Starting this week, Albuquerque Public Schools is requiring a clear bag policy at all sporting events.
Adrian Ortega, APS's executive director for athletics and activities, said they want games to be a safe environment for everyone.
"Los Lunas High School has done it for a couple of years. Las Cruces High School has done it for a couple of years. So, we really hope that this opens it up for not just those schools, but we're hoping that other schools jump on this as well," Ortega said.
According to the school district, items such as coolers, briefcases, backpacks, drawstring bags, wagons, purses and diaper bags that are not clear are not allowed. However, student-athletes who bring their district-issued team bags will be allowed. Ortega said at the stadiums, they wil
