TONOPAH, Ariz. — Twelve dogs were found without any food or water at a home in Arizona.
Detectives with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Animal Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on a residence in Tonopah following reports of animal neglect, according to a post on the sheriff's Facebook page.
All 12 dogs that were rescued were underweight, the sheriff's office said. They were found in hazardous conditions without access to food, water or medical care.
One dog had a severe, untreated injury, MCSO said.
The property where the dogs were found had no electricity or running water and was filled with debris and uninhabitable structures.
The dogs were rescued with help from the MCSO Mash Unit.
The investigation remains ongoing, MCSO said.
