OLIN—North Iredell High School’s football season opener Friday also served as “Coach Charles Love Night.”
The Raiders honored their longtime former head football coach, Charles Love, for his many contributions to the program. He spent 25 years there before stepping aside in 1999.
Love’s 1987 North Iredell team completed the regular season 10-0. It’s the only perfect regular season in school history. That team advanced to the second round of the playoffs before losing to West Caldwell and finishing 11-1.
Marty Liles, one of Love’s former players in attendance Friday, played from 1984-87 and helped the Raiders accomplish that feat almost 40 years ago.
