As Surprise nears honoring the anniversary of September 11th, the city is looking for residents to participate in its donation drive.

It is part of the city’s upcoming day of service, which will honor the city’s first responders.

Anybody can bring items such as water, toothbrushes, deodorant, underwear and other necessities to several dropoff location spots in Surprise between Sept. 1 and 10.

Items that are collected will be put into kits that members of the city’s public safety and Human Service and Community Vitality teams will distribute them to those who need them.

Other items needed include Gatorade, brushes and combs, body wipes, bug spray, socks and shirts and outerwear like jackets and sweaters.
