City asking residents to help shape amended standards
The city of Surprise is encouraging residents to lend some feedback as it updates its building and fire safety standards with some online and in-person opportunities to do it.
The city plans to adopt the 2024 International Codes in December to put Surprise up to date with the latest set of nationally recognized building and fire safety standards the International Code Council has developed.
“These codes play a critical role in supporting safe, sustainable and resilient development throughout our community,” city officials wrote in a news release. “I-Codes form the foundation for all new construction and renovations, addressing key areas such as structural safety, fire protection, electrical systems, energy efficiency and more.”
