NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennessee desperately needs foster parents, and one nonprofit is doing what it can to help.

Youth Villages is hosting foster parent information sessions through August and September to try to recruit more future foster parents.

“Someone that has a heart to serve is the main thing. We are really just looking for people that can provide a space to cultivate a child’s dreams and they really just need one caring adult in a home for that,” Magdalena Jaramillo, foster parent recruiter and engagement specialist at Youth Villages said.

According to Kids Belong Tennessee, there are nearly 9,000 children in foster care in TN, and just 4,500 foster homes.
