The man replacing the top federal prosecutor in the western reaches of Virginia is a familiar face to many in the Charlottesville area.

Tracci served a four-year term as the commonwealth's attorney in Albemarle County, beginning in 2016. More recently, he has headed the Major Crimes and Emerging Threats Section in the Virginia Attorney General's Office.
