A Florida man accused of defrauding a Lynchburg doctor of $455,000 in a proposed real estate deal has been granted bond in federal court in Roanoke.

A federal magistrate judge on Aug. 13 ordered Tommie Lee Nelson, a 65-year-old resident of Miramar, Florida, released on a $50,000 bond.

Nelson was arraigned Monday in U.S. district court in Roanoke on six counts of wire fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

Nelson has pleaded not guilty to the charges, his attorney said.
