Premier Danielle Smith said that negotiations with teachers are ongoing, and that there is adequate money being provided to educate Alberta’s student population. And, she suggested that the province will be looking into how much school boards spend on administration compared to their classrooms.

The possibility of a province-wide teachers’ strike or lockout Smith’s was the lead topic on the Your Province, Your Premier radio show on 880 CHED and QR Calgary Saturday morning.

In May, Alberta Teachers’ Association voted overwhelmingly to authorize strike action if needed. Negotiations are ongoing, but at this moment parents across the province aren’t sure if their kids will be returning to school or not this September.
