A 65-year-old man from Tellico Plains is facing 45 years in prison without possibility of parole after being convicted for the aggravated rape of a child.

Back in April 2024, authorities arrested William Allen Howard following an indictment by a Monroe County, TN grand jury, according to Sheriff Tommy Jones.

His indictment stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Special Crimes Unit, which is responsible for investigating crimes against children.

Howard was convicted under the Child Protection Act for the aggravated rape of a child.

"The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting our most vulnerable and ensuring that those who commit crimes against children are held fully accountable," Sheriff Tommy Jones stated.
