HART COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - An Anderson County man has been arrested after deputies said he led them on a chase late Friday night.

According to the Hart County Sheriff's Office, deputies were conducting a safety check at a new four-way stop on Lavonia Highway on Friday when they said 53-year-old Michael Gibert, driving a Honda pickup truck, fled from the intersection.

Deputies said they attempted a traffic stop but Gibert refused to stop and led deputies onto Interstate 85 north towards South Carolina.

The sheriff's office said deputies prepared to end the chase near the state line and Gibert's truck struck another vehicle. No one was injured in the wreck and Gibert was arrested.

He was booked into the Hart County Jail on charges of felony fleeing, DUI, driving with a suspended license,
