MINERAL POINT, Wis. (WKOW) — A motorist in need of assistance on US 151 near County Road A led to two arrests early Saturday morning at 1:46 a.m. in Mineral Point Township.

The incident occurred when a van was spotted on the roadside with its hood up and sliding door open. A male subject was seen standing dangerously close to the road, attempting to flag down vehicles. This prompted a call to the Iowa County Communications Center.

Multiple deputies from the Iowa County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. They made contact with the driver and a passenger, who claimed the van had run out of fuel.

During the course of providing aid, deputies discovered several violations of Wisconsin state law. Both individuals were subsequently taken into custody.
