EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Officials say a woman was arrested after she was seen punching a young child in the face multiple times.

The Evansville Police Department says 35-year-old Brandy Gahl was seen pinning the child against a wall and punching them.

They say Gahl appeared to be intoxicated.

After recording the victims injuries, Gahl was arrested.

They say she then ran from an office while still in handcuffs, but was quickly taken back into custody.

Gahl was taken to the hospital before being booked into the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center.

She is being charged with domestic battery, neglect, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication and escape.

Gahl does not have a bond.
