The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a flash flood warning until 4:30 p.m. Saturday for Interstate 80 near Verdi toward the California–Nevada state line. Radar indicated heavy rainfall, raising the risk of flash flooding and debris flows near the Gold Ranch burn scar.
Earlier Saturday, severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for parts of western Nevada and the Lake Tahoe area.
This warning is separate from a flood watch that remains in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday for Washoe, Lyon and Mineral counties in Nevada, along with Mono County in California. That watch highlights the potential for additional flooding as monsoonal storms continue through the evening.
